Community Living Hamilton is offering virtual recreation and leisure programs free of charge to all persons with developmental disabilities aged 18 and over. Activities are designed and organized to focus on community participation, social interaction, and skill development.

Registration is now open for our Summer Session programs, which run for 9 weeks from June 28-August 27, 2021. To sign up for for programming, please complete the REGISTRATION FORM. Participants are welcomed and encouraged to register for as many activities as they wish that are of interest to them!

Available programs will run on a weekly schedule and include a wide spectrum of recreational, educational and wellness-based activities, as well as life skills training. These programs will be offered at various times throughout the day Monday through Thursday.

To participate, registrants must have access to an electronic device such as a laptop, tablet, smartphone, as well as internet connectivity as programs will be offered in an online virtual format.

All programming information and any necessary materials will be provided via email and/or mail. Please note: Registration is free, however a small fee to cover the cost of materials may be charged for certain activities or you may purchase these separately.

Session Descriptions

Morning wake-up: Start the morning off right while connecting with friends and discussing what the day will bring.

Once upon a time: A series of animated short stories or books, providing participants with a fun time.

Let’s get crafty: Weekly Crafts that are just for fun and fit in with the summer season

Sports Channel: A new sport every session, enjoy sports moments, watch teams score goals and wrestler’s wrestle.

Wild Kingdom: In this program we will focus on different animals from different climates, ranging from the arctic to the jungle and even the deep blue sea.

Dance it out: Come and Dance to songs from different genres.

Brain Teasers: A fun take on trivia! Each session we’ll test your knowledge on something new… Join us for a fun trivia filled hour on various topics! Think you’re up for the challenge?

Music through the decades: Music has an impact on our lives.  We will travel thru the decades enjoy music of that era.

It’s all fun and games:  Enjoy some friendly competition while we explore different games.  (Trivia, Bingo and Pictionary etc.).

Sit & Fit: A low impact exercise program that can be done from the comfort of your chair.

Around the world:  Explore other nations, countries and cities. Learn a new language, check out a yummy recipe and do a tour of the location.

Where shall we walk? : Appreciate the beautiful scenery as we take a virtual walk.  This fitness program can also be done seated.

Learn to draw: We’ll look at something new each week and learn how to draw it! All participants will need a sheet of paper or a sketch book, a pencil and an eraser. Pencil crayons, crayons and markers are optional.

Mind, Body, and Soul: Come and discover wellness! Recipes, mediation, inspiring movies and books, healthy eating , the list goes on and on!

Let’s write a story: Do you like stories? What about writing them? In Let’s Write a Story we’ll learn all about the different components in a story, and how they form together to become one. Each session we’ll focus on a different component and write a story based on what is learned. Participants will need a sheet of paper (Preferably lined, but any will work), a pencil and an eraser.

Gather ‘round the camp fire: Campfires! It’s where all the greatest things happen! Join us in Gather Round The Campfire for fun activities such as ghost stories, camp songs, camp activities and so much more!

 

Children’s Respite Virtual Programs

Programs run from July 5 through August 27, 2021

ALL PARTICIPANTS FOR THESE SESSIONS BELOW NEED TO BE CURRENTLY REGISTERD WITH THE CHILDRENS RESPITE PROGRAM.

KidZ Virtual Summer Camp (ages 6-12) – Monday- Friday, 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Description: Kids will enjoy activities such as Just Dance, Sing-a-Longs, Nature Explorers, and Story Time. Registration done for week blocks at a time (e.g. Week 1, week 2, etc.)

TeenZ Virtual Summer Camp (ages 13 – 21) – Monday-Friday, 3:00 am – 4:00 pm
Description: Participate in a number of fun and interactive activities including drawing, book club (story reading), games and learning corner! Registration done for week blocks at a time (e.g. Week 1, week 2, etc.)

Teen Rest and Relax (ages 13 – 21) – Tuesdays ONLY!
Description: Join us for a variety of wellness activities including meditation, breathing exercises, colouring, and personal reflection! Registration for full 8 week program – not individual sessions.

Summer Fun Saturdays (ages 6-21) – Saturdays ONLY!
Description:  Come out every Saturday mornings for riddles, exploring, games, and more! Open to kids and teens of all ages, this is a great opportunity to have some weekend fun and make new friends. Registration for full 7 week program – not individual sessions.
